Within the Magical Sights image library web site, we make extensive use of your browser's 'Status Bar' and pop up 'Hints'
(also known as 'ToolTips'), which automatically change to display additional information when you move your mouse over
active elements and images. These features greatly enhance the usability of any software system by providing
additional context-sensitive information. As an example, try sliding your mouse over the categories within the
'All Categories' list on the left and see what happens in your Status Bar, pause for a moment on a category and watch
the Hint pop up and disappear again.
Keyword searches are not case sensitive i.e. M
and m are treated as the same. Keywords can also contain simple phrases, such as
Sri Lanka or Isle of Man.
The Category list(s) displayed on the left of the page are used to quickly find images. Each Category consists of
three levels: an outer Category Group, an inner Sub-Category Group and the Category set itself.
Both Groups are initially displayed Closed with a plus (+) sign in front of the Group name. Clicking the name
will Open the Group and it will then be displayed with a minus (-) sign in front of the name. Clicking the name
again will Close the Group once more. This methodology is very similar to opening and closing Folders displayed
within a file explorer.
Note: The same image could appear in several different categories, depending upon its content.
Whilst within a Search Results page you can sub-categorise the results by applying a Category Filter. This is
achieved by selecting a Category from the Search Results Categories list, which also shows the number images in the
result set for each Category. Any applied filter can be removed by clicking the Clear Filter hyperlink.
A Breadcrumb Trail is displayed on each page just below the menu, which tells you how you reached the current page. The best
and most efficient way of going Back to a previous page is by utilising the links in the breadcrumb trail
rather than using the Back button on your browser, which can cause problems due to our web site's advanced
'state management' facilities. If a Back link is provided within the page's navigation areas, this
can be used to take you back to the previous level as if you clicked the last link item on the Breadcrumb Trail. The
Breadcrumb Trail will be reset within a page if going Back is inappropriate.
At Magical Sights, we take our responsibilities regarding online content seriously and we have ensured that
every page of our dynamic image library web site is content rated according to the images being displayed at the time,
utilising both the basic Rating Meta Tag and the
SafeSurf®
PICStm Internet Rating Standard and is used whenever the rating on our
site is other than "General".
We recommend and optimise for Microsofttm Internet Explorertm 5 and above Internet browsers. If you
have a problem with these or any other browsers, please send an email with an attached Screen Shot of the problem along
with a description of how it occurred and details of your computer, operating system and browser to our
onMouseOut="self.status='';return true;" onMouseOver="self.status='Send an email to our Support department';return true;" title="Send an email to our Support department">Support department.
